This is a demanding course which includes Pilotage, navigation, seamanship and advanced boat handling techniques for operating planning boats on coastal waters by day and at night. This course is definitely not for the novice. This course can also be commercially endorsed.
Like the Intermediate course but with more emphasis on Pilotage and navigation, it covers the planning and execution of a coastal passage in daylight, with a repetition during the hours of darkness.
The advanced courses are timed to coincide with the depth extremes and stronger currents associated with spring tides. Due to the requirement for night exercises, the advanced courses will normally be scheduled outside of British summertime (B.S.T). A time delayed Man overboard simulation will involve the use of GPS “track back”, good team work and the practical application of search patterns in more demanding conditions.
You should be competent to the standard of national powerboat certificate-
