The RYA (Royal Yachting Association) is the governing body for Powerboating and Powerboat
Racing in the United Kingdom. The RYA National Powerboat Certificate (Level 2) is
the UK’s most popular Powerboat Course and is the recognized National Standard for
the safe and responsible operation of powerboats. It entitles the certificate holder
to apply for and receive the ICC certificate (International Certificate of Competence).

The Level 2 qualification is also mandatory for anyone wishing to become an RYA sailing or windsurfing instructor. It can be a requirement for various other water related activities. Many boat insurance companies will now offer a discount on sight of the Level 2 certificate.

The course may be taken in our 6 metre R.I.B. sports boat which has a 90 hp outboard motor, learning either individually or as part of a group of three. You may also take the course on your own boat whether it is a planing or a displacement craft. Progression would be to take the Intermediate or Advanced RYA Powerboat Courses, which we hope to be providing during the 2008 season.
